Pupil Premium and PE Grant Funding
What is Pupil Premium?
The government introduced the Pupil Premium Grant in April 2011. It applies to pupils who are: entitled to free school meals (FSM), looked after children and service children as indicators of need. The government provides a fixed amount of money for schools per pupil based on the number of pupils registered for FSM over a rolling six-year period.
This grant, which is additional to main school funding, is seen by the government as the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their peers, by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most. The Pupil Premium is allocated to schools and is clearly identifiable. Schools can decide how the Pupil Premium is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils, within their responsibility.
Pupil Premium Use and Impact Statement – the document below outlines how Castlemorton uses the Pupil Premium Funding. As the number of children eligible for pupil premium is relatively low, impact reports tend to highlight specific pupils and or families and therefore, sensitivity is taken when publishing data. Comprehensive records are held in school and currently the attainment gap is closing for the majority of the pupils.

PE and Sports Grant
Each year, state-funded schools are allocated a PE and Sports Grant which must be used to fund improvements to the provision of PE and sport so that pupils can develop healthy lifestyles.
In order to ensure the PE & Sports Grant money is well spent and supports both current and future pupils, the Governors, Head of School and PE co-ordinator have carefully evaluated current provision, sought pupil’s views and plan to spend the allocation in a targeted and sustainable way.
