The Chair and Vice are elected annually. In accordance with the Board’s Instrument of Government all Governors serve a term of 4 years with the exception of Parent Governors who serve for 3 years.
The purpose of the Local Academy Board is to:
Provide strategic leadership to ensure every child gets the best possible education.
The 3 core strategic functions are:-
Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
Holding the Head to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils; and
Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent
The Local Academy Board is part of the leadership and management of the school and works by collective decision-making and shared power, not personal power and responsibility. Governors do not represent the individual interests of parents, staff or any particular group within the school or wider community.
Business responsibility and task board list:
Relevant Business Interests of Governors- the current Governing Body includes a range of professionals from many fields of work. Their skills complement one another and provide strength within the main Governing Body and in the committees. Any conflicts of interest are declared to the clerk along with pecuniary interests.
