The purpose of the Governing Body is to:
Provide strategic leadership to ensure every child gets the best possible education.
The Governing Body’s 3 core strategic functions are:-
Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
Holding the Head to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils; and
Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent
The Governing Body is part of the leadership and management of the school and works by collective decision-making and shared power, not personal power and responsibility. It is the full Governing Body that has legal duties and powers and all Governors share in that corporate responsibility. Governors do not represent the individual interests of parents, staff or any particular group within the school or wider community.
Please follow the link below for details of committees and roles of responsibility within the Governing Body. All Governors have voting rights on their appropriate committee.
Relevant Business Interests of Governors- the current Governing Body includes a range of professionals from many fields of work. Their skills compliment one another and provide strength within the main Governing Body and in the committees. Any conflicts of interest are declared to the clerk along with pecuniary interests.
