Year 1 Homework

In Year 1 maths this week have been using our number bonds to help us add numbers within 20. For homework this week we would like you to practice your number bonds to 20 by completing the activity in their learning log and then using it to practice recalling them quickly in and out of order.  We will be taking part in a number bond challenge next Friday.

If you would like extra challenge, try the quiz at

Year 2 Homework

In Year 2 maths this week the children have been learning more about multiplication and for homework we would like them to continue to learn their 2, 5 and 10 times tables.   It is expected that by the time children get to the end of year 2 they will be able to quickly recall these three tables. Please start with the 2 times table and then move on to the others. We will be taking part in a times table challenge every Friday where we hope to see the children increase in speed and accuracy over the coming weeks.  It is not expected that the children know all of them by next Friday.

There are lots of resources such as songs and games on the internet which can make learning fun.  You can also find games and activities on both MyMaths and Purple Mash.

If your child can already quickly and confidently recall all of these please move on to the 3, 4 and 8 times tables.

Friday 19th January 2020

We will be using a new suite of online learning tools to support the teaching of computer science in school called Purple Mash. All the children have been shown how to log in and have been given a password which we have stuck into their planner.  A copy of the password is on the letter that we have sent home today.

For homework we would like you to log into Purple Mash and have a go at the tasks that have been set.  This week they are related to the maths we have been learning in class.  There are lots of activities and games the children can safely play within the site and they have been encouraged to do some exploring.

Friday 13th December 2019

For homework this week we would like you to support your child to read and write their common exception words.  We do not expect you to learn all the words in one go; please choose five that your child does not know and learn them ready for next week.

MyMaths has also been set this week.

Please take a look at Hot Gossip this week to catch up with everything that is happening during the last week of term.  Please also remember that there are no after school clubs next week.

Friday 6th December 2019

Thank you for all the amazing homework that has come in over the last couple of weeks.  The children have really enjoyed sharing their work.

This week for homework we would like you to find out about one animal that hibernates in winter.  Please draw a picture of your animal, find out where it lives and where it goes to hibernate.  We will be sharing what we know in our science lesson next week.

MyMaths homework has also been set.

Friday 25th October 2019

For homework over half term we would like you to read the following information about firework safety and then answer the questions in your learning log.

MyMaths home work has also been set.  Please make sure you also complete any outstanding tasks from this half term.

Friday 18th October 2019

This week for homework we would like you to think about the signs of autumn.

Can you find 4 signs that tell us we are in autumn? Draw a picture and write a sentence for each one.

Friday 11th October 2019

This week for homework we would like you to start learning the following poem which we will be preforming at our Harvest Festival.

New MyMaths tasks have also been set this week.

Autumn Time

The wind is playing autumn games

Through the gardens and the lanes.

Picking up, and swirling round

Leaves of orange, red and brown.

Gusting through each swaying tree,

Tossing apples till they’re free.

Shaking conkers till they drop

And open wide with prickly pop.

The wind is dancing, full of fun,

Laughing in the autumn sun.

It tumbles acorns, fir-cones, leaves,

To make a carpet under trees.

Friday 27th September 2019

Next week we will be starting to learn about what humans need to stay healthy. As part of this topic we will be looking at healthy eating. For homework we would like you to keep a food diary writing down all the things you eat and drink over the weekend. We will use this information during our science lesson next week.
