Conwy Residential – talk for parents and children

Blue Class- Thursday at 6:30pm in the school hall.

Parents and children are invited to a brief talk about the forthcoming residential visit to Conwy. It should last about 45 minutes and there will be a chance for questions. A booklet and consent/medical forms will be provided.

A letter has gone home tonight about a new service for parents. The aim is to pass information as quickly as possible about such things as, cancelled clubs, school closure, school trip details… We hope to have as many mobile contacts as possible and add them to the secure data system. A text message will then be sent to the numbers provided.

Cadbury World Trip

All the children are very excited about their visit to Cadbury World. Let’s hope that there is plenty of chocolate for everyone!!!

Wriggly Nativity

Green and yellow class were delightful in their performance of the ‘Wriggly Nativity’. All the children sang beautifully and looked wonderful in their costumes. Thanks to everyone who made the show a real success.

Foday Manka

Foday Manka visited school today and awarded the Well Done Certificates in our school assembly. Foday is a member of the Gambian Government and represents the Janjanbureh area. His sister has visited Castlemorton and was the original headteacher of Boraba School when our link was first established.

Harvest Produce

The fresh and tinned produce collected at the Harvest Festival were given to Court Road Nursing Home and were gratefully received. A huge thank you to everyone who kindly brought a donation.

Music Lessons

We are very excited to be part of a new project established in collaboration with schools and Worcestershire Youth Music which offers children in years 4 and 5 the opportunity to learn to play 2 instruments over an academic year. They have just begun their cornet lessons and all is going well.

Reduce the risk of infection

Following the good advice below, in and out of school, is even more important during the current influenza (flu) scare:

wash your hands after using the lavatory, eating or any other activity likely to bring you into contact with germs;
have a pack of tissues with you so that you can ‘catch’ any coughs and sneezes and throw the used tissues into a bin;
if you do develop an infection, wash your hands even more frequently.

To their credit, most children are not absent for long and come back to school after a cough or cold relatively quickly so that their education is not damaged. During the current ‘flu scare, however, when the early symptoms may be unclear, the medical advice suggests that sufferers should stay at home in order to reduce the risk of spreading infection.

Sunday 20th September- Everyone is welcome to join us. We are tidying the school grounds and hope to have as many helpers as possible. If you can spare a couple of hours your help would be much appreciated. A list of jobs is on display in the school entrance hall.
