Our Caterpillars Pre-school meet in the school hall every day between 8:45 and 11:45. Kate, Judy, Vicky and Sarah offer a friendly and caring learning environment for children from 2 years old. Our staff ratios take each child’s age into account and we match provision to the needs of the individual while taking into account their age.
There is a family atmosphere with a range of daily activities appropriate for young inquisitive minds. Amongst the favourites are forest school, music and movement and cookery. Kate is a qualified teacher and all other staff members have Level 3 Early Years Qualifications.
Our aim with pre-school is to allow children to move seamlessly into education. We appreciate that this important stage in a child’s life can also be a time when parents need support. We know that when it comes to educating children one size doesn’t fit all; therefore we offer flexible choice that caters for individual needs. Parents are welcome to stay with their children during the sessions and together with the staff can decide the best way forward. We have also introduced a full day for 3-4 year olds on a Thursday. When there will be opportunities to mix with the Reception Class.
We place emphasis on having qualified teacher input into the provision on offer and while our 3 and over Thursday sessions take off Mrs Clements will be supporting Sarah Broadbent with the learning that takes place.
The personal, social and emotional aspects of learning are so important and the staff at Caterpillars are gentle and sensitive. Children’s opinions are valued and their wishes respected. Parental views are taken seriously and we value the relationships we build with families.
We offer affordable early years provision:
£10 per morning session
£20 on a Thursday – children will need to bring a packed lunch with them
Universal government funding is available and vouchers can be used. Discounts also apply when a child is settling in and parents are staying with them.
The governors of the school are also responsible for the pre-school setting, and Alex Surman is the designated governor.
